Google Mobile Breaks iPhone App Store Rules!

We just got word today that Google Mobile has broken the iPhone App Store Rules. According to the rules you can use the iPhone technology only to a certain extent.

When you make a phone call on the iPhone there is a proximity sensor on the hand held device that tells it to shut the light off when it gets too close to your face to prevent you from accidentally hanging the phone up with your face. Google's app uses the same technology when the device approaches your head which is all fine and dandy. The issue is that Google's app not only uses the proximity sensor to shut the light off but it also delivers an audible prompted so you can voice your search terms which is against the rules (go figure).

Apple only lets third party developers have semi-access to all of the features of the API(typically for GPS navigation and such) and everything else is off limits. Use of "private" frameworks within the API that are off limits could result in a ban from the App Store.

Apple has chosen not to comment on this situation at this time. We'll keep you posted right here.
